Krishna Acharya

Mr. Krishna Acharya is an instructor of Mathematics at Dallas College, and a PhD candidate in Mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas with an anticipation of graduating in May 2026. He has an M.S. in Mathematics from UT Arlington, Texas, and an M.A. in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Mr. Acharya has been in the education field in higher educational institutions either as a graduate student or an educator since 2000. His research interest is in Mathematics education for effective teaching techniques and strategies for students' success. He has been conducting his research for his dissertation and his proposed dissertation topic is "Investigating College Algebra instructors' conceptions of complex zeros of polynomials and how they connect their conception to the teaching roots of polynomial equations". He completed a special project for the fulfillment of his M.S. in mathematics at UT Arlington on a similar topic, "Visualization of complex roots of Quadratic Equations". This examines his strong desire for the research of Mathematics education to create a more inclusive environment in mathematics classrooms.

Mr. Acharya has numerous years of teaching experience, teaching various undergraduate mathematics courses such as College Algebra, Business Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Elementary Statistics, etc. He has completed several hours of required professional developmental training each year in his workplaces like compliance training such as cyber security, FERPA, Title IX, etc., and other teaching-related training. He has attended multiple conferences and seminars such as Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education (RUME), Texas Oklahoma Regional Undergraduate Symposium (TORUS), and the Teaching and Learning Conference. He is in the process of achieving the online teaching certification from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) in the summer of 2024.
